INFOMS Internship Contest


INFOMS is pleased to announce the INFOMS Internship Contest for Master's level students in Business/ Management/ Information or equivalent.



  • To encourage students to conduct innovative, high-quality internship projects

  • To provide a platform for a nationwide exposure to high-quality internship projects

  • To recognize and reward excellent projects by giving them monetary and other awards

  • To provide industries a consolidated single source of high-quality work done by MBA students during the internship

  • To create an environment of interaction between academia and industry for mutual benefit and provide suitable placement opportunities for students



  • The project must be completed in summer 2019.

  • The project can be completed by a single student or a group of students.

  • The student must be enrolled in an Master's level program in Business/ Management/ Information or equivalent.




Projects may either be nominated by a b-school or submitted directly by individual students. The following documents should be sent,

  • A cover letter providing list of Student Name and Project Title of each students nominated for the competition (required if nominated by b-school)

  • A submission form

  • A letter from the company, certifying that the project was completed by the concerned student.

  • A non-refundable submission fee of USD 50.00 per project. Students from institutes with institutional membership of INFOMS get 10% discount on their submission fee. Please click to know more details on membership.

  • For group projects, additional certificate can be issued by paying USD 20 (by default there will be a single certificate with both names in it).

  • The project report should be sent through email to as per the guidelines.

  • Please mail us to generate invoice to make payment using credit card or online transfer.

  • In order to avoid physical transaction, you can email submission form and company letter and make payment through credit card or online transfer. However finalists will be asked to bring letter from company in original.


Guidelines to prepare Internship Report:

  • Project Code: Total 10 digits (First 2 digits as first 2 digits of of country + Next 2 digits as first 2 characters of your First Name + Next 2 digits as first 2 characters of your Last Name). Example to generate project code: If a student with name SMith LOvey is applying from BRazil then his project code will be BRSMLO. For group projects, they can use one student as a corresponding author of report and mention his/ her name. 

  • Format: 1 to 1.5 spacing, 10 to 12 point font size, maximum 1.2 inches margin on each side.

  • Two PDF versions of the project should be prepared. Version A will have a cover page with your name, address, e-mail, contact phone, school’s name, etc. Version B will NOT have this cover page. Ideally, your name and name of school should not appear anywhere in Version B, as this version will be sent for review.

  • Recommended structure: Page 1 - Project Title, Project Code, Company Name, address, contact person’s name, phone, e-mail; Your name, address, phone, and e-mail; Your school’s name, address, contact person, his/her phone, fax, e-mail, Page 2 - Project Title, Company Name, Page 3 - Table of Contents, Page 4 - Executive Summary. The rest of the project may have following sections: Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and Recommendations, Appendices, Bibliography, Glossary.

  • There is a limit of maximum 50 pages (inclusive of tables, graphs, appendixes, if any). For a longer project, please enclose a payment for excessive pages at the rate of Rs. 100 per page.

  • If you are using any tables, graphs, figures, text or any other materials from other sources, make sure to provide full citations of the source.

  • It is assumed that the project submitted is the original work of the author and necessary approvals have been taken from all concerned parties, and no copyrights have been violated. INFOMS will not be responsible for any such violations.


Evaluation Process:

  • First, the projects will be evaluated by a regional committee, which will then make a recommendation of selected projects to the international committee.

  • The regional committee will send projects to two external reviewers. Projects will be evaluated using a double-blind review process. (Reviewers and contestants will not know each other’s identity. This is done to ensure objectivity and fairness in the evaluation process).

  • The international committee will evaluate the projects short-listed by the regional committees and identify finalists for the international competition.

  • The finalists will be required to make presentations at the International Conference on Management and Information Systems during September September 29-30, 2019 at Bangkok. They will need to arrange for travel and accommodation at their own expense.


Awards and Recognition:

  • All contestants will receive a participation certificate.

  • The top three projects will be given cash prize, plaque and certificate

  • All participating projects (project titles and student names) will be listed on the web site of INFOMS.

  • Submission Deadline: July 31, 2019

  • Final Presentations : September 30, 2019
